This Bipolar Life: Love in a Disordered World

Looking for love while bipolar is hard enough. Being in love while bipolar is even harder. It involves remembering small details that are far too easy to forget. It means triple-checking everything coming out of your mouth to make sure it’s as kind as possible. It means sacrificing your ego on the mantle of humility and, sometimes, shame and blame. It means being loved, cared for, mad, scared, happy, sad, and so much more all at once.

The benefits of a loving relationship are countless but the energy to stay in one isn’t always endless. Sometimes it just gets to be too much. But we keep trying.

We work hard at being lovable and can only hope to remain loved in return.
